Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is a primary health profession that deals with diagnosing, treating and preventative care. The skeletal, muscular and neurological systems are assessed along with medical history, in consultaion. At Salus Chiropractic sports clinic a plan of treatment will be given that will be tailored to the individual patient. Chiropractic care is administerd to the whole body allowing for the body to function synergistically.

Magnetotherapy

Magnetotherapy is a physical therapy based on the application of specific magnetic fields on the human body. It can be used to treat pain, inflammation and swelling. Clinical studies have demonstrated that magnetotherapy can be effective in the treatment of osteoporosis and for promoting healing and repair of bone fractures and soft tissue injuries.
Our magnetotherapy device works by generating pulsed magnetic fields at extremely low frequency (ELF) and at low intensity. These fields are able to pass through the entire body, acting on all tissues (muscle, bone, nerve etc). This is effective deep into the body and is completely painless.

How Does it Work?

Extremely low frequency fields like those emitted by our magnetotherapy device cause ions to move in biological tissues which creates ionic currents. Ultimately, this means there is more energy available at a celluar level and activation of oxygen – essentially ‘resetting’ your body.

In addition to this effect, magnetotherapy can stimulate the repair of bones. When a bone is bent or compressed, positive and negative charges become displaced, indicating that bone repair work is required! Bone regeneration occurs where negative charges accumulate.

Laser Therapy

The MLS laser delivers two wavelengths, 808nm and 905nm in a synchronised manner. Because the stronger 905nm wavelength is nanopulsed (this means it pulses on and off rapidly), any risk of thermal damage to your tissue is removed and the laser is completely safe to use. The 808nm wavelength targets tissue repair and regeneration and the 905nm wavelength has an analgesic effect and targets pain and inflammation.
The laser works to create vasodilation (expansion of the blood vessels) in the area it is treating. This leads to an increase in oxygen, healing cells and anti-inflammatory proteins as well as a ‘wash out’ effect which helps to clear waste products and pro-inflammatory molecules. Laser therapy also reduces the speed of the transmissions of pain messages in the nerves and helps muscles to relax. Finally, laser can help to reduce swelling by flushing out and pushing through any fluid accumulations.
